Meet the Founders
Shannon Winn
Founding Member
Born in South Africa, Shannon Winn has a wide range of educational experiences. While completing her Master of Commerce degree in Economics at the University of KwaZulu Natal, she worked as a tutor, and academic counselor, and headed up the student writing center. In addition to her tutoring, Shannon has also worked as a professional proofreader and editor for a UK-based company, assisting university students with their dissertations and theses as well as editing various papers for other large public and government organizations. She has also worked in content creation for occupation based training courses in Australia. After completeing her TEFL and TESOL certifications she taught English as a second language in Korea for three years, where she met her current husband who was stationed there at the time. As a military spouse, she has been fortunate enough to live in Florida, Washington State, and currently resides in Tennessee with her husband, her beautiful daughter, and of course her dog, chickens, and goats. For the past seven years, Shannon has been working as a professional tutor around the States and internationally both online and in-person, assisting both young and adult learners in various fields of study including reading, writing, mathematics, English, writing skills, dissertation writing, advanced academic literacy, macro and microeconomics, econometrics, qualitative and quantitative research techniques, and statistics. ​Shannon is passionate about creating an organization that genuinely cares about the students, where the tutors are more than instructors, but are also coaches and mentors for students. She believes in a holistic approach to education, where the student is guided to become a well-rounded lifelong learner. More recently, along with her business partner, Amanda, Shannon has become a member of the National Tutoring Association.
Amanda Sconiers
Founding Member
Amanda Sconiers was born and raised in a small town in Walton County, Florida. She attended Ashford University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Applied Behavioral Science in the College of Health, Human Services, and Science as well as a Master of Science Criminal Justice, specializing in Forensics in the College of Liberal Arts. During her time in college, Amanda was a mentor for CHAMPS (Collaborative and Holistic Academic Mentoring for Peer Success) Peer Mentoring program. This is when she recognized her love for helping others and formed friendships that would last a lifetime. For the past 10 years, Amanda has been working as a mentor, teacher, and tutor for students around the world, in person and online. She develops a personal relationship with her students and their families, encourages her students to feel confident about themselves, and to love their own unique qualities. Amanda believes that teaching the academic lesson is important, but it is only part of what makes a student successful in school and in life. Amanda, along with her business partner, Shannon, has recently become a member of the National Tutoring Association.
